Chanson du Jour

It looks like the Liberal Menace is wrapping up for the week. Just so you know, oh menacing one, we do do a song on Sat, even though no one looks at blogs on the weekend. You are welcome to fill that slot if you are interested. You deserve it.

Alright, here is today's song. Just a side note. I love this movie. I always thought it creepy how well Depp played a character that is always tripping. Huh. What kind of research goes into that role? Special bonus for anyone that can count the number of illegal substances in this video. Here is the message from The Liberal Menace.

let's go out with a BANG, shall we?

vendredi de la chanson (aka freaky friday)

Q: what do you get when terry gilliam directs johnny depp and benicio del toro in a movie based on a book written by the legendary hunter s. thompson?

A: an okay movie with a mind blowing insanely great soundtrack which contains one of the best cover versions of a song - EVER!!!

please enjoy "viva las vegas" by the dead kennedys

(too bad i didn't stumble across their take on "rawhide", with an all midget casted video, earlier in the week, that would have been a great monday bonus bit - it's freaktastic!)

anti-blog: if you think it's unpostable, then i guess you could substitute "take the skinheads bowling" by camper van beethoven.

anonymous: if, after this, i have to redeem myself in your eyes... i'd probably do it with the paranoid ramblings of jem in "they"

FYI: all of this could have been avoided if greg pritchard's audition on britain's got talent were embeddable.

hope your time comes soon anonymous, looking forward to a week of eagles and little river band.

Talk about stealing thunder. Dead Kennedys and Camper Van Beethoven were in the queue for chanson du jour. Very well played. Had never heard of Jem, but I liked the song and Greg Pritchard is a classic. Excellent choices. Again, you can select for tomorrow too if you would like.

Ohmy, Ohmy, that is a lot to comment on my little LM friend.

Viva Las Vegas and the all midget Rawhide.?? The dead Kennedy's are indeed unique. I have to say though I liked it in a wierd way. p.s. that movie with the Deppster looks bizarre!
Take the skinheads bowling? That one is not making the cut with Anon.
Jem--again in a wierd sort of way I liked the song, but I doubt it would be possible for me to listen to two in a row from her.
And that guy in England??--a few weeks ago it was that spinster lady who sang like a world star and now this guy who is a "male soprano" As they would say in the Queens tongue, "something is a little Queer about it all"
