If you were to ask anyone in the know, "Who is the best thing going in indie music right now?" it would be hard to make a case against today's artist. His concerts are sold out months in advance. People (especially the ladies) travel for hundreds of miles to see him perform. He packs 'em in at every festival he plays. He has even been interviewed by MTV (where he told them his music sounds like a 6th grade band and that he wants people to wonder if his songs are genius writing or inane when they hear his music). Hailing from Michigan, he has set out on the ambitious task of making an album themed after every state in the US. He started with his home state which includes this song. Enjoy For The Widows in Paradise, For The Fatherless in Ypsilanti by Sufjan (pronounced soof-yawn) Stevens.
His next album was themed after Illinois and was called Illinoise. Enjoy Chicago from that album.

in case by chance someone from Michigan ever read this blog I hope they don't take offense when I trash little soof yawn (emphasis on yawn). I made it about 1min 30 of the first song and endured over 2min of the second song. My conclusion is final: INANE!!
And to think we actually have 48 more albums to go!?!?!
9 mins 22 secs of my life i'll never get back.
Man, Kevin! What awesome taste in music. I have never met you and will probably never do so, but not only do you seem like the most handsome, witty, politically savvy, dead-on person in the whole of the world, you also have impeccable music taste. I think that you are the most amazing person ever and thank you so much for putting Sufjan Stevens on here for us all to enjoy. Don't listen to the others. They don't know what they are talking about
such ramblings are the by-product of drinking cleveland tap water!
Something about residual LSD or some other mind altering drug.
