Chanson du Jour

We have a couple of selections (one of them iffy by Cami's standards) from Coen Brothers movies. That is a fantastic hint and you will get nothing more than that. That narrows it down to like 10 movies, so quit complaining.

Down In The Willow Garden by The Everly Brothers

This one is the iffy one. An actor/actress does "perform" this in the movie, but Cami is not sure that the piano was actually being played by the actor/actress. But, technically it fits in this weeks category because it is "performed" by an actor in a scene in the movie as part of the script. So, take that, editor.

Piano Sonata No. 8 in C Minor "Pathetique" by Beethoven (you don't have to listen to the whole thing, but it is great. The part performed is the beginning.)

have no idea...maybe guessing a Coen brothers film I haven't seen...Like Best in Show or The Big Lebowski...? Isn't the Sonata Pathetique in one of Jane Austen's films....do the Coen brothers have a softer side? haha.

Big Lebowski is a good guess but not right. The Coens did not do Best in Show, so that is incorrect as well. But, it was a fine effort. Today's is very hard and very obscure. You were brave to go first. Of course the Coens have a lighter side. They use it to contrast their darker side to make it all the more dark and funny. It's a perfect blend. I am sure that Pathetique is in many films, but only performed in one that I know of

I think I only know a couple of coen brother movies. So I will guess that George Clooney and wife (holly hunter) play the beethoven song at the beginning of O brother where art thou and that the everly brothers song is somewhere in Raising Arizona.

that's as good as i got

Well, good work Anonymous (accidentally) and liberal menace (who actually knew what she was talking about) on getting Down in the Willow. That of course is sung by Holly Hunter as a lullabye to her stolen baby. Funny. As for the Beethoven song. Ed Crane (Billy Bob Thornton) hears that played on the piano by Birdy (Scarlett Johansson) in The Man Who Wasn't There. That was a hard one
